What is SOCPA?
The Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA) is a leading professional body that supervises the accounting and auditing profession in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It aims to improve the practice of the profession and contribute to its development while monitoring the quality of its performance.
The Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA) also works to raise awareness of the rules governing practice and to enhance the profession's participation in community service and the national economy. It also works tirelessly to support individuals, organizations and other business-related groups to enhance confidence, increase transparency in financial statements, and protect users and investors alike.

SOCPA was established in 1992 as a mandatory membership organization for Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) pursuant to CPA Law No. M12 of 1991 to regulate professional accountants.
Subject to the oversight of the Ministry of Commerce, the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA) is responsible for:
Setting accounting and auditing standards
Define ethical requirements
Administering professional examinations and providing continuous professional development programmes
Approval of CPA offices that can offer training to candidates wishing to fulfill certification requirements.
Establish and operate a quality assurance review system. Investigating and disciplining members of the profession is the responsibility of a committee established by the Ministry of Commerce and including a representative of the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA).
Obligations of the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants SOCPA
The Saudi Agency for Certified Public Accountants is supervised by the Ministry of Commerce of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA) is committed to the following:

What certifications are recognized by SOCPA?
The list of certificates recognized by the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA) is as follows:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Master of Accounting
Secondary Accounting Diploma
A certificate of appreciation issued by the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants
Any Bachelor's degree with at least 15 credit hours in accounting. Anyone with less than 15 credit hours can arrange to appear for the exams
Professional accounting certificate from a body accredited by the International Federation of Accountants. For example, CPA from the USA, CICA, CA from Australia and New Zealand, ICAEW, ACCA, ICAP, ICMA from Pakistan, and CMA from the USA. However, these degrees or certificates must be attested by the Saudi embassy in the issuing country.
